Understanding Music Distributors
First, to get your music on Instagram Stories, you'll need a music distributor. Companies like TuneCore and DistroKid serve as the middleman between you and Instagram Stories. If you're already familiar with distributors because you've released music before, skip ahead to this time stamp for the next steps.
TuneCore: Getting Started
1. Go to TuneCore.com and sign up for a free account.
2. Click on "Create Single" or navigate to "Music."
3. Fill in song details: the writer, song name, file, and artwork.
4. Receive an ISRC code—this helps track your song's streams.
5. Select where you want to release your music, making sure to include Instagram Stories.
6. Pay for the release and wait approximately 2-4 weeks for your music to appear on Instagram Stories.
DistroKid: Alternative Option
- DistroKid operates similarly. Head to DistroKid.com, input the same types of details, and wait for approval.
Note: Choose only one distributor to avoid conflicts.
Making Changes to Existing Releases
If you've already released music but it's not on Instagram Stories, here's how to fix that:
- TuneCore: Navigate to web.tunecore.com/facebook_tracks_dashboard and adjust settings.
- DistroKid: Go to "Edit Release" and add your music to more stores, including Instagram Stories.
